Skipper your own rib?

Bareboat charter provides an alternative to owning your own rib and the associated costs with doing so.... boats are expensive,

What does B.O.A.T. stand for? - Break Open Another Thousand

So true, approximate annual cost of owning a 6 metre rib in Bembridge will include the following:

  • Mooring: £2,000 (on a pontoon berth) can be less but further restricts the use of the boat.
  • Insurance: say £300
  • Winter storage, including scrub, getting up and launching: £400
  • Annual maintenance! - any price, service of engine, cleaning of tubes etc. £450 ++
  • so far over £3,000 before the initial investment, incidentals, kit and unforseen problems, etc.!

How about giving someone else the hassle, subject to availability we have a few different Ribs available to hire, daily, weekly or for longer periods. Give us a call or email until we get them listed here.

Terms and Conditions of bareboat charter require that the hirer is over 21 and is responsible for the rib at all times, regardless of whether they are actually on the rib or not. Any person responsible for the rib or taking it out as the skipper must hold a minimum of an RYA Powerboat Level Two certificate. If the hirer is unknown to ourselves or has not had recent experience in a powerboat although holds a PBL2 Certificate they will be required to undertake an assessment - cost £50.00 and if appropriate will be required to do a short Refresher Course (see relevant page on this website) bringing them upto date with their knowledge and ability to helm the rib safely and confidently.

The Hirer will be required to sign the appropriate hire documents, provide payment and a deposit, prior to taking the boat.
